German paraglider Christoph Andreas Sattler (26) has gone missing in Fewa Lake since February 5. Christoph plunged into the lake while performing a dangerous stunt from the glider. He had taken off from the jumping site at Sarangkot and the mishap occurred when he plunged into the lake by undoing the straps.

CAAN cancels AOC of three airlines
Three airlines – Yeti International, Cosmic Air and Impro Airways – have lost their Air Operation Certificate (AOC) after they failed to renew their periodic license. The AOC were nullified from January 11 as per the Aviation Regulations, according to Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN), the aviation regulator.

Slight growth in tourist arrival in 2009
Total tourist arrival in the country via air in 2009 recorded a marginal growth of 1.1 percent over the arrival figure of 2008. According to Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 378,12 visited Nepal in 2009, up from 374,661 recorded in 2008.

Alpine Air to start flights from January
Alpine Air has announced that that it would start international flights from the third week of January, 2010. Addressing a press meet organized on December 14, Surendra Malla, chairman of the airlines, informed that the airline would use Bahrain Air´s Airbus 319-100 aircraft with 132 seat configuration for the flights. “The aircraft will have 12 seats in business class and 120 seats in economy class,” Malla added.
