Mt. Shisapangma Expedition- Tibet

Shishapangm is one of the lovely mountains of Tibet, which lies in its autonomous region, known by the Tibetans as “the big grassy field". It is an extremely beautiful area and provides amazing and inspiring views along the Himalayan range. Only very few people in the world have an idea about the Shishapangma before the Chinese opened Tibet to the western summiteers in 1978 A.D. Shishapangma is the youngest among fourteen mountains above 8000m that lies in high Himalayan ranges and like all mountains is regarded holy by the Tibetans.

The following itinerary is the original route as by which the first western expedition from the year 1978 reached the summit.  missing larger technical difficulties stunning adventure can be taken, which lets mounting a 8000ers expect nevertheless with the necessary weather luck and the support of some experienced Sherpas.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu (1350m.) and transfer to Hotel
Day 02 : Preparing Expedition/visa for Tibet (Kathmandu)
Day 03 : Preparing expedition (Kathmandu)
Day 04 : Drive to Kodari Border & Zhangmu
Day 05 : Drive Nylam 3750m. Over night at hotel
Day 06 : Nyalam rest for acclimatization
Day 07 : Nyalam rest for Acclimatization
Day 08 : Drive to Chinese Base camp 5000m.
Day 09 : Acclimatization
Day 10 : Prepare load for Advance Base Camp
Day 11 : Trek to Middle Camp
Day 12 : Trek to Advance Base Camp 5400m.
Day 13 -37: Climbing Period Shishapangama 8035m.
Day 38 : Trek to Base Camp
Day 39 : Drive Nyalam
Day 40 : Drive to Zhangmu & Kathmandu
Day 41 : Kathmandu
Day 42 : Final Departures
