Mt. Kailash Overland from Kathmandu
This tour includes rigorous overland driving, trekking and camping through remote regions of Western Tibet, at altitudes of 2745m (9000ft) and 4880m (16,000ft) and hiking to a maximum of 5600m (18,400ft). Nature Trail’s team with Sherpa’s / cooks and guides are all on hand and will provide you with all the camping equipment necessary. While trekking, clients carry a small day-pack only and hike at easy pace. All the Sherpa’s and other personal will take care of the rest. All equipment, luggage and camping equipment will be carried by porters or pack-animals. The perfect way to experience your pilgrimage tour to Mt Kailash.
ITINERARY IN BRIEF
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel.
Day 2: At leisure and tour briefing
Day 3: Fly to Nepalgunj. Overnight hotel.
Day 4: Fly to Simikot and commence trek
Day 5: Trek Simikot / Tuling
Day 6: Trek Tuling / Kermi
Day 7: Trek Kermi / Yangar
Day 8: Trek Yanger / Torea
Day 9: Trek Torea / Hilsa then cross the border and drive to Taklakot
Day 10: Drive Taklakot / Purang
Day 11 Drive Purang / Manasarovar Lake
Day 12: Drive Manasarovar / Darchen
Day 13: Drive Darchen / Tarboche and start trek to Dera Phuk (4860 m.) -
Three days trek around Mt. Kailash.
Day 14: Cross over Dolma-La (5400 m.) and reach to Zutul Phuk.
Day 15: End trek near Darchen and drive to Horaa (4500 m.)
Day 16: Drive Horaa / Paryang (4550 m.)
Day 17: Drive Paryang / Saga (4600 m.)
Day 18: Drive Saga / Nyalam (3750 m.)
Day 19: Drive Nyalam / Kathmandu
PLEASE NOTE: On the return journey it may be possible to take the seasonal route crossing Tsangpo River at Saga on day 12. This high route is very scenic and passes Mt. Shishapangma and Pailku Tso Lake to meet the Arniko Highway close to the Lalung La Pass on Day 14.
